We’re Making History: THE PLAYERS on the big screen!

ConcordTV’s documentary The Players – The 95-Year History of the Community Players of Concord, NH is ready for viewing!

The first half of the documentary is pre-1960s, and shows how the organization was founded, and relates its financial and artistic struggles through vintage photos, board minutes, letters and snapshots – with members of today’s Players giving voice to Osy Strong, Dorothy Corbett, Ira Shannahoff, Mrs. Lovgren and more.  The second half blends color photo montages of each decade with live interviews of players sharing memories of Bob and Phyllis Stuart, Harriet Strong, the fundraising years and building the new studio.  Both sections are bookended with “Barefoot in the Park 2021” – with the show waiting to go on for 17 months – and finally opening at The Audi.

ConcordTV is very grateful for the opportunity to create The Players, and thanks NH Humanities, who supplied underwriting funds, but especially the Community Players themselves, who opened their archives for research, and stepped up to loan personal photographs, provide voices for the soundtrack, and share stories and memories on camera to make the film.  ConcordTV hopes the documentary will refresh the Community Players’ legacy for residents of the city and for the greater NH arts community as the Community Players of Concord, NH approach their 100th Anniversary.
