MAIN STAGE 2026-2027

Looking Glass Land — October 16 & 17, 2026.  Directed by Karen Braz

The Children’s Theatre Project presents Looking Glass Land, winner of the Shubert Fendrich Memorial Playwriting Contest.  Looking Glass Land is a stage adaptation by renowned playwright James DeVita that takes Lewis Carroll’s original Through the Looking Glass and literally runs with it. This wild adaptation highlights and improvises on the pure, unadulterated fun of the story. The play still retains some of Carroll’s deeper meanings, but what it possesses most of all is a huge helping of unabashed silliness! This delightful romp through Alice’s looking glass land retains all of the familiar characters — Alice, the Red Queen and King, the White Queen and King, the Flowers (Daisy, Tiger Lily, Violet, and Rose), Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, Humpty Dumpty, the Unicorn and the Lion, and the White and Red Knights — and introduces dozens of new ones:  a baseball team, a rap group called The Responsibilities, a train conductor, a Miss America pageant, star-struck tourists, plastic light saber wielding knights and much more.  The Children’s Book and Play Review declares, “This is an excellent script…  delightful, amusing and believable in a land that’s not.”

Come From Away — November 20-22, 2026.  Directed by Betsey Cox-Buteau.

Come From Away is a critically acclaimed musical featuring a culturally relevant script accompanied by a deeply moving score by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. The show has earned global success with 37 award nominations, 13 of which resulted in wins, most notably Best New Musical at the 2019 Olivier Awards and Outstanding Musical at the 2017 Drama Desk Awards. The show’s global presence resonates across all audiences as an uplifting reminder of humanity’s ability to come together, no matter what the circumstances.
Come From Away is based on the true story of the time when the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland, played host to the world. What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family.

Agatha Christie’s A Murder is Announced — February 12-14, 2027.  Directed by Betty Lent.

An announcement in the local paper states the time and place when a murder is to occur in Miss Blacklock’s Victorian house. The victim is not one of the house’s several occupants, but an unexpected and unknown visitor. What follows is a classic Christie puzzle of mixed motives, concealed identities, a second death and a determined inspector grimly following the case’s twists and turns. Fortunately, Miss Marple is on hand to provide the solution – at some risk to herself – in a dramatic final confrontation.

The Importance of Being Earnest (A Trivial Comedy for Serious People) — April 30-May 2, 2027.  Directed by Vicky Sandin.

Being sensible can be excessively boring. At least Jack Worthing thinks so. While assuming the role of dutiful guardian of his ward Cecily Cardew in the country, he lets loose in town under a false identity. Meanwhile, his friend Algernon (Algy) Moncrieff takes on a similar facade. Unfortunately, living a double life has its drawbacks, especially when it comes to love. Hoping to impress two eligible ladies – Jack is in love with Gwendolyn Fairfax (daughter of the intimidating Lady Bracknell), Algy with Cecily –  these very English gents find themselves caught in a web of lies they must carefully navigate.
